CLASS® Excellence: From Observation to Transformation
Head Start programs are held to rigorous standards—and teacher-child interactions are at the heart of school readiness. The Office of Head Start utilizes CLASS® reviews as a key measure within the Designation Renewal System to assess program quality and effectiveness.
Programs that do not meet the established minimum thresholds—5 in Emotional Support, 5 in Classroom Organization, and 3 in Instructional Support—may be at risk for re-competition of grant funding.

Our certified, reliable CLASS® observers provide objective, data-driven insights that align with federal expectations. But we don’t stop at compliance. We partner with your team to transform observation data into targeted, actionable strategies that elevate teaching practices, strengthen classroom climate, and drive measurable gains in child outcomes.
Through this dual approach, your program will:
-
Meet and exceed federal performance thresholds
-
Build internal capacity for sustained excellence
-
Empower educators with practical, research-based strategies
-
Create classrooms where meaningful interactions thrive

Focus Area 1 Preparation: Systems That Stand Up to Scrutiny
Build a foundation that is organized, compliant, and review-ready—before reviewers ever walk through the door.
Focus Area 1 reviews examine the core systems that drive your program—governance, ERSEA, fiscal integrity, and program design. These are not surface-level checks; they require clear documentation, aligned processes, and confident leadership articulation
What You’ll Gain
-
Clarity Across Systems
Understand exactly what reviewers are looking for—and how your systems align. -
Audit-Ready Documentation
Organized, accessible, and complete materials that tell your program’s story clearly. -
Leadership Confidence
Directors, managers, and governing bodies prepared to respond with accuracy and assurance. -
Reduced Risk
Proactively address potential findings before the review begins.
Focus Area 2 Preparation: Practice That Proves Quality
Move beyond compliance—demonstrate excellence where it matters most: in classrooms and family engagement.
Focus Area 2 reviews center on what children and families actually experience—including teaching practices, learning environments, interactions, and service delivery.
This is where preparation must go deeper than paperwork. It requires aligned instruction, skilled staff, and consistent, high-quality implementation.
What You’ll Gain
-
Confident, Prepared Staff
Teachers and service providers who know what to do, why it matters, and how to demonstrate it. -
Stronger Classroom Practice
Improved interactions, engagement, and instructional quality that align with review expectations. -
Real-Time Readiness
Classrooms and systems that are consistently prepared—not just on review day. -
Elevated Outcomes
Enhanced experiences for children and families that reflect true program quality.
